Tomorrow’s Jobs PAC Endorses Derek Tran for Congress (CA-45)
Highlighting his background as a small business owner, the new national organization plans to actively support Derek Tran’s congressional bid.
Washington, DC (December 12, 2023) — Today, Tomorrow’s Jobs, a new national group supporting Democrats with small business and entrepreneurial backgrounds, endorsed Derek Tran in California’s 45th Congressional District.
Brett Broesder, the PAC’s founding executive director, stated that Tran’s background as a small business owner makes him an excellent example of someone who can excel as a candidate and policymaker.
“Small business owners like Derek Tran are the lifeblood of our nation’s economy,” said Broesder. “They're a driving force behind job creation, innovation, and healthy and equitable communities. Tomorrow’s Jobs proudly supports Derek Tran and plans to actively ensure he has the support and resources necessary to win.”
Derek Tran said he’s thrilled to have Tomorrow’s Jobs PACs support.
"I'm honored to be endorsed by Tomorrow's Jobs," said Tran. "My wife and I are the proud owners of a local pharmacy. We know what it's like to start a business and serve our community. This country was founded upon entrepreneurial spirit - and I look forward to advocating for small businesses like ours in Congress. Republican Michelle Steel sells out to large corporations and gives them tax breaks; I'm always going to be in it for the little guy."
Republican Michelle Steel currently represents California’s 45th Congressional District. However, Joe Biden won the Asian plurality district (41%) by six points in 2020. Democrats also have a six-point registration advantage over Republicans in the district.
Broesder asserts that Tran, who has significantly outraised his primary election opponents since joining the race, is well-positioned to win a competitive primary and general election.
“Flipping this Golden State seat will be a boon for Democrats effort to take back the House majority,” said Broesder. “And replacing MAGA extremist Michelle Steel with small business owner Derek Tran in Congress will help to protect democracy. That’s a win-win.”
For the 2024 elections, Tomorrow’s Jobs PAC plans to make endorsements nationwide. So far, in addition to Derek Tran (CA-45), the group has endorsed Rebecca Cooke (WI-03) and Jeremy Gray (AL-02).
The overall Tomorrow’s Jobs effort includes recruiting, training, and supporting Democratic candidates who have experience creating jobs in communities, including small business owners, entrepreneurs, non-profit executives, and more.
